Three Black Feathers Records, our new label dedicated to reissuing classic folk albums on high-grade vinyl, has met with a warm response from music lovers and critics.
Five-star reviews have greeted some of the earliest releases on our new audiophile folk label, Three Black Feathers Records.
Once In A Blue Moon by Lal Waterson and Oliver Knight, and Nic Jones' Penguin Eggs, get the full marks in this month's Record Collector magazine.
Reviewer Ian Shirley called our 200 gram vinyl edition of Penguin Eggs "the best so far" and described the album as Jones' masterpiece.
Shirley, who is also editor of the publication's Rare Record Price Guide, was similarly effusive about the Waterson/Knight title, praising its "gold-medal quality sleevenotes" and comparing it to Beth Orton and Jeff Buckley.
Our pressing of Penguin Eggs was also hailed by Ian Harrison in the lead vinyl review in Mojo magazine's January issue.
Three Black Feathers is dedicated to re-releasing classic folk albums on high-grade vinyl, providing limited definitive editions for collectors, with extensive liner notes, new interviews and archive photos.
On BBC Radio 2, Stuart Maconie described the Three Black Feathers series as "rather lovely to own" while his colleague Mark Radcliffe hailed the LPs as "handsome things for you vinyl junkies".
The titles are remastered at Abbey Road on 180 gram and 200 gram vinyl for the ultimate in audiophile quality.
Our earliest releases also include titles by Eliza Carthy, Martin Simpson and Dick Gaughan. Future projects include reissues from Shirley Collins, The Watersons, June Tabor and many more.
