HARMAN Luxury Audio At Bristol 2019

Visitors to Stand 12 in the Bristol Suite will quickly get a deep understanding of the ‘DNA’ of JBL Synthesis. Founded in 1992 – JBL itself dates back to the 1940s – the last 27 years have seen the JBL Synthesis teams engineer the most advanced signal processors, equalisers, amplifiers and loudspeakers, delivering truly outstanding products to music and movie fans. The current line counts instantly recognisable models, including the UK show debut of the L100 Classic. This beautiful new speaker is the modern take on the legendary L100 and it, as with all JBL Synthesis models, shines brightly thanks to its maker’s cross-pollination of excellence across all areas of audio: from the studio, to the stage, to the home.

Head to Empire 2 on the first floor and you can hear the L100 Classic in all its glory. Here, the 21st Century version of ‘the speaker from that Maxell break the sound barrier advert’ teams with Arcam’s HDA range of electronics, delivering an outstandingly musical presentation from sub-£1000 amplification and digital sources. A second demo system blows the budget, teaming the extraordinary JBL K2 S9900 – described by What Hi-Fi? magazine as ‘among the very best speakers money can buy’ – partnered with electronics from Mark Levinson. Visitors can lay ears and eyes on the famed American maker’s new 5000 Series, as well as lust over its No 515 turntable, No 519 Audio Player No 523 preamplifier, plus a brace of No 536 monaural amplifiers. File this dem under ‘worth climbing the stairs for’!

A further treat in store for Empire 2 visitors is the global launch of the Arcam Solo Uno. The latest model in Arcam’s Solo line – the range that redefined expectations of the level of performance attainable from the ‘mere all-in-one’ system – Uno offers a compelling combination of digital streaming and amplification all under one extremely smart silver roof. For those looking for a big performance from a small footprint, Uno is the one.
